Is this Hercules game God’s gift to slots?
Featuring Mighty Reels that appear from nowhere and the innovative Big Bet Mode, the Hercules slot is certainly unique. An acquired taste but slots fans who like something a bit different may find this a good quirky and different option at online casinos.

Hercules High and Mighty video slot
The Hercules High and Mighty video slot is just the latest game to pursue a mythological theme. Secrets of Atlantis has proved very popular since its recent release and Hall of Gods is always worth keeping an eye on in terms of the current value of its Jackpot. And just for good measure, I have three different casino slots based around Zeus.
With lots of other quirky symbols, a fun theme and Barcrest’s trademark Mighty Reels, this online slot is one of a kind!
Hercules slot in the safe hands of Barcrest
The Hercules slot is made by Barcrest; I’ve enjoyed playing some Barcrest slots in the past with Monopoly Big Event a particular favourite. They have been making slots since the 1970s and started out life supplying most of the fruit machines – or ‘fruitys’ as they’re often known – that you’d find in UK pubs.
But Barcrest has kept up with the times and their slots don’t have that old-fashioned and dated feel about them that some other games do.
For starters, they’ve made the game just as good on mobile as it is on desktop; it’s available on numerous different devices. So however you roll when it comes to your device of choice, you should be able to play the Hercules slot on it.
This isn’t a Jackpot game with the free spins being your best chance of securing a really big win.
A second secret set of reels
Zeus was, of course, Hercules’ father and appears in the game as the most valuable symbol.
I guess even the God of the Gods needs to check up on his son sometimes.
Other symbols include the famous flying horse Pegasus, the Hydra, Hera, a Lion and Cerberus. It’s essentially a 5×5 reel slot, though activating the Mighty Reels feature or the free spins will actually reveal a second completely new and hidden set of reels.
Which just goes to show that even a Greek God who famously performed the seemingly impossible ‘12 Labours’ can be a secretive sort.
There are 100 paylines and as you’d expect from a slot of this nature, you can adjust your stake to whatever you’re comfortable with. You can choose to use the Autoplay function if you need to get on with other things while playing Hercules at the same time.
There are some audio effects though admittedly they’re not the slot’s biggest selling points.
Hercules Big Bet Mode feature can make a big difference
Some cool features to talk about on this slot so let’s go through them.
What is it with these stars of their own slots that makes them always want to be the Wild symbol themselves? Just the other day I was reviewing Wonder Woman for G2Gs free to play slot page and she clearly insisted on being the Wild, too.
Hercules will substitute for any symbol other than the Scatter and help you to some wins.
Hercules Expanding Wild symbol
Hercules was known for his immense strength. Which is probably why it was Arnold Schwarzenegger (at his prime) who played the lead role in the fairly ridiculous Hercules in New York.
And occasionally Hercules flexes his muscles in this slot to become 3-symbol high stacked. When this happens you’ll get to see the second set of reels I talked about already. The chains that you see above the normal reel are raised, Hercules expands vertically to fill the entire reel and you’ll have twice the number of paylines with which to win.
The gold coin is the Scatter here and three of those means it’s free spins time. Four or five coins is even better because this is what you can get:
- 3 scatters = 8 free spins
- 4 scatters = 12 free spins
- 5 scatters = 20 free spins
During the Free Spins you also get to play on the Mighty Reels and I’ve already told you about the benefits of that! Free spins can be re-triggered if you were to get 3 or more Scatter symbols when you’re playing your initial free spins.
Big Bet Mode
Hercules was a big hero with a big personality who accomplished some big feats in his time. So it’s fitting that there’s a Big Bet mode in this game. This is a feature that appears quite regularly in online slots made by Barcrest and one I also found present when I recently looked at Wonder Woman Gold.
Essentially, here it means that you’re paying a premium to massively increase your chances of winning something big. You can choose from any of these three.
₹200 Big Bet
5 Big Bet Spins in which the Mighty Reels feature becomes active when a single Wild symbol lands in view.
₹300 Big Bet
Exactly the same as above with the added benefit that low-value symbols are removed from the reels, improving your chances of better wins.
₹500 Big Bet
The same as the₹300 Big Bet including the removal of lower value symbols with a significant added benefit: the Wild is locked on the Mighty Reels until a win is achieved.
Does the slot live up to its name High and Mighty?
The overall design of the Hercules slot might not be everyone’s cup of nectar. The graphics, the symbols and the fact that the Mighty Reels are hidden above the regular reels is a little bit of a Marmite scenario; you’re either going to love it or hate it.
But that’s not to take anything away from an imaginative and easy-to-play slot that has some cool features.
Again, it won’t be to everyone’s taste to play the Big Bet Mode feature because playing 5 spins for a much higher amount than usual could lead to disappointment if you don’t win anything.
But it’s nice to know the option is there should you want to roll the dice.
Not my absolute favourite slot ever because I’ve had some absolute crackers recently with Paranormal Activity and Charms and Witches two of the ones I enjoyed the most.
But this is an original game that will appeal to some. And if it appeals to you, have a go at one of our top rated online casinos listed below!
