Blackjack 6 to 5 & 3 to 2

In blackjack, there are two set payout schemes, 6 to 5 and 3 to 2.

In this article we will go through what each of them means and which of 6 to 5 and 3 to 2 is best to play.

About the Game

Blackjack, as a game, is played with a standard card deck of 52 cards. Each denomination is assigned value as per their face values, especially the cards 2 to 10. The jacks, kings, and queens are worth 10 each and aces are used either for 1 or 11.

Player’s objective is to draw close to a total of 21 and not go over that number, as compared to the dealer’s cards.

Now what we are going to talk about is 3:2 and 6:5 which are the payouts available at different tables in Blackjack both in land-based and Indian online casinos.

Difference Between 6 to 5 and 3 to 2 Blackjack

These terms refer to the win payout percentages. When you are playing 3 to 2 Blackjack, you get paid out 3 dollars for every 2 dollars that you bet which is 1.5:1 as per the odds.

If you are playing a Blackjack session with a payout ratio 6 to 5, here you get paid $6 for every $5 bet on the game which leads to an odds ratio of 1.2:1.

Differences or 3 to 2 vs. 6 to 5 Blackjack is with reference to the house edge.

How the Difference Affects your Bets

The house edge is increased by 400% when the 6 to 5 variant is played. In the basic version of 3 to 2 Blackjack, the house edge remains in the range of 0.5%.

Hence, if you wager $100 then the average they can take on is $0.5 when you play 6 to 5 the edge shoots up and becomes 2% and hence, for every $100 you wager you would be contributing $2 towards the house. The differences are magnified since serious bettors make wagers in thousands.

Land Based Casinos favour 6 to 5 Blackjack

In modern times most US casinos are offering the 6 to 5 Blackjack instead of 3 to 2.

This change has become popular since the house edge increases by 400% and often, players, especially beginners and novices, are not aware of the difference and how it costs them.

This is the sole reason why I am writing this guide. Because I do not want you to be a novice player once you start playing blackjack online.

Online Casinos favour 3 to 2 Blackjack

There is harder competition at online casinos since changing from casino to casino takes just a few seconds. For that reason, they always provide at least one 3:2 blackjack game online.

But they still have some tables that have 6:5 so be sure to check before you start playing.

The most important blackjack strategy of all is making sure that you are playing at a 3:2 table.

Pitfalls of 6 to 5 Blackjack Games

If you bet on a traditional game of Blackjack $10 then you stand to win $15 when the payoff is 3:2. On the other hand, if you opt for a game of 6:5 then the same bet amount of $10 will get a player $12.

Hence, as compared to the 3 to 2 version, in 6 to 5 version one loses out by about $3 for every win. If you play four Blackjacks in an hour then it would cost you $12 which is the profit that the house is getting over the 3:2 traditional games.

That is why you should always play blackjack at online casinos in India since they give you the best rates with 3:2 games.

Most average players do not notice the difference and many are unaware of the lower rates they are getting on their bets.

However, the earnings of a player are impacted, especially when they wager in thousands. For that reason, it is necessary to keep a lookout for the percentage wager of a Blackjack session before one begins.

The casinos listed below are all reviewed by me and my team members and all offer 3 to 2 blackjack games.
