About the Game

Blackjack, as a game, is played with a standard card deck of 52 cards. Each denomination is assigned value as per their face values, especially the cards 2 to 10. The jacks, kings, and queens are worth 10 each and aces are used either for 1 or 11.

Player’s objective is to draw close to a total of 21 and not go over that number, as compared to the dealer’s cards.

A two card 21 or getting a Blackjack is the best total that a player can have. Blackjack games at casinos usually payout 3:2 which means, if a two card of 21 value is obtained on a bet of $5, it leads to a win of $7.50. If the dealer also has two cards 21 or the hand opt for a push or tie, it will get the player to only get back their original bet.

If there is a sign that says $5 to $2000; split a pair three times and double on any of two cards selected, it usually means that you need to place a minimum bet of $5 on the table and it can go up to a maximum amount of $2000.

Difference Between 6:5 and 3:2 Blackjack

House edge differance in Blackjack by G2G

These terms refer to the win payout percentages. When you are playing 3:2 Blackjack, you get paid out 3 dollars for every 2 dollars that you bet which is 1.5:1 as per the odds. If you are playing a Blackjack session with payout ratio 6:5, here you get paid $6 for every $5 bet on the game which leads to an odds ratio of 1.2:1.

Differences or 3:2 vs. 6:5 Blackjack is with reference to the house edge. For instance, the house edge is increased by 400% when the 6:5 variant is played. In the basic version of 3:2 Blackjack the house edge remains in the range of 0.5%. Hence, if you wager $100 then the average they can take on is $0.5 when you play 6:5 the edge shoots up and becomes 2% and hence, for every $100 you wager you would be contributing $2 towards the house. The differences are magnified since serious bettors make wagers in thousands.

The Trend in Blackjack Games in Casinos

In modern times most US casinos are offering the 6:5 Blackjack instead of 3:2. This change has become popular since the house edge increases by 400% and often, players, especially beginners and novices, are not aware of the difference and how it costs them. This is something you can find at online casinos in India too, so you’d better watch out!

This is the sole reason why I am writing this guide. Because I do not want you to be a novice player once you start playing blackjack online.

Pitfalls of 6:5 Blackjack Games

If you bet on a traditional game of Blackjack $10 then you stand to win $15 when the payoff is 3:2. On the other hand, if you opt for a game of 6:5 then the same bet amount of $10 will get a player $12. Hence, as compared to the 3:2 version, in 6:5 version one loses out by about $3 for every win. If you play four Blackjacks in an hour then it would cost you $12 which is the profit that the house is getting over the 3:2 traditional games.

If wagers of amounts not divisible by 5 are used then payoff for this game gets worse. For instance, you wager $8 and if you get a Blackjack, in the 6:5 version you get $6 for $5 and then even money is given for the remaining amount of $3.  The net amount you get is $9 which is $3 less of what you get paid when you opt for the traditional game of 3:2.

Dealers get impacted by this payout percentage as well. If you wish to tip $1to the dealer, in a traditional payout of 3:2 the $1 tip gets the dealer earnings of $1.5. If the 6:5 game is played the dealer gets only even money since they would typically earn $1.2 on $1.

The option of even money also does not work out well in 6:5 versions when we look at 3:2 vs. 6:5 Blackjack, especially when the dealer shows ace and player gets a Blackjack.

Conclusion

Most average players do not notice the difference and many are unaware that several internet casinos, especially rogue casinos, hosts mainly 6:5 Blackjack games. However, the earnings of a player are impacted, especially when they wager in thousands. For that reason, it is necessary to keep a lookout for the percentage wager of a Blackjack session before one begins.
