Star Fall

Is it the next big thing? Probably not but originality and daring are highly rewarded at G2G and they get high marks for that.

Catch the Star Fall and win big!

One of the most famous incidents of a Star Fall was when Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence tripped over her dress when she went up to collect her 2013 Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook.

Although strictly speaking, stars fall every day. It’s often known as shooting stars and if you really want the scientific explanation for what it is, here you go:

It’s the common name for the visible path of a meteoroid as it enters the atmosphere, becoming a meteor.

Where to play Star Fall for real

But back in the world of video slots, Star Fall is a very different thing altogether. It’s the latest release by Push Gaming and is a good example of a slow burner. Like those film noirs where nothing happens for the first 45 minutes other than a load of people smoking cigarettes and drinking gin and then they burst into life and end up with the femme fatale meeting an untimely demise.

But let’s focus on the slot and what it’s all about.

The Star Fall slot is a rare gift from Push Gaming

A new Push Gaming video slot is a bit like the Olympic Games. It doesn’t happen very often but when it does, it’s great fun and you wish there was more of it.

The main reason for that is their passion for slots really shine through in the end product. They love online slots.

Each slot released from Push gaming is carefully crafted and are in the same league as the biggest providers like NetEnt and Microgaming.

Just look at Dragon Sisters or Wild Neon. Not only was it all about one of the cutest animals ever to walk the planet but it was also as fun as an afternoon with Adam Sandler and Will Ferrell. Or at least as fun as we’d imagine that would be. (We’ve never met them as such).

You can play Star Fall on desktop. Or just get your mobile out and play it there instead.

Classic, clean symbols but what do the special ones do?

This has many of the makings of a classic slot. There’s the 5×3 reel format and there’s also more fresh fruit on offer than what you’d get at breakfast at an all-inclusive Hotel in Brazil. Cherries, grapes, unusually juicy-looking watermelon and just to ensure you’re not short of Vitamin C… some lemons as well.

There’s also a diamond and as is so often the case these days, some playing cards. Then there’s a Wild, represented by a cool three-dimensional golden star. Unlike those boring playing cards, the Wild does something very different from what it normally does in other games.

But you’ll have to read the next section to find out exactly what.

Then there’s the Scatter. It comes in the form of three golden coins that appear in the middle reel only and can either fill the entire reel or just bits of it. You’ll also see the significance of that difference in the next section, too.

All in all, it’s a pretty simple looking game and if you’re hoping for big explosions and incredible graphics, it’s a case of ‘move on, partner. Nothing to see here.’ Instead, the theme, symbols and gameplay are similar to another very simple, but yet popular slot Starburst.

But it’s all very clean-looking and easy to follow. I like that.

Star Fall free spins feature is the star attraction

In keeping with the simplicity and easy-to-play feel that’s present throughout the slot, there are just two features to talk about. But here’s where I’m about to reveal…who shot Tupac. Err, sorry that’s next week.

I’m about to reveal what those special symbols really do.

Falling Star Wild

If you’ve been wondering why the slot is called Star Fall, wonder no more. As I told you already, the gold star is the Wild and as you’d expect, it substitutes for all other symbols except for the Scatter. But it’s work is far from done when it helps you to secure a winning combination. After a win, it will fall one position down on the reel and will automatically allow another symbol to appear.  If it secures another win with the new symbol on the reels, it will fall again.

Up to a maximum of three times, assuming it appeared at the top to start with. And those three times could well bring you a pretty decent win because if you have a big winning combination the first time around, you’ve got every chance off cashing in on it again. And again.

When gold coins mean Free Spins

The Scatter here works differently to most other slots. Usually, you need to get three of them on any reel or two or more of them on particular reels in order to activate the free spins or whatever other bonus feature they lead to.

But the Star Fall slot marches to the beat of its own drum and instead, you need to get the three golden coins in a vertical line on the middle reel to activate the free spins. Get it and 10 free spins are heading your way. Occasionally, two of the three gold coins settle on the middle reel and it’s an agonizing wait to see if the third ones do too. When it’s just two, it’s a case of close but no Monte Cristo.

You can’t re-activate the free spins but getting more of those gold coins are your path to riches. Because during the bonus round the gold coins can appear on Reels 2, 3 and 4 and once you get three of them on a particular reel, that whole reel becomes Wild for the remainder of the free spins. And that’s when the fun really starts.

More to the Star Fall slot than what meets the eye

I started off by saying this was a bit of a slow burner. By that I mean that you can spend a while stuck in the base game, get a few cheap wins from time to time and wonder what all the fuss is about.

But credit to Push Gaming for developing such a unique Wild and adding a little bit of spice to the free spins round by dangling that carrot that is the Sticky Wild Reel. Once that happens, you realise this slot is a few notches above the classic/retro games that we come across so often.

Is this slot the next big thing? Probably not but originality and daring are always highly rewarded here at G2G and they get high marks for that.

Try it out ‘on the house’ at our free casino slot page or better still, open an account and play it for real money. If you activate those free spins and secure a Sticky Wild reel, you’ll certainly wish you had!
